Sarah Graves is a visual artist born in Poughkeepsie, New York. She grew up in the rural landscape of the Hudson Valley. She studied art education, photography & ceramics in New York before moving to Portland, Oregon in 2009. She has spent the last ten years working at one of the last exisiting optical film photography labs in the country called Blue Moon Camera and Machine. While working at the Moon, she wore many hats, including processing black and white film, making darkroom prints and running the national sales desk. She now splits her time running her own photography/editing business and has recently started a small batch ceramic company called Maven Ceramics.

Sarah values analog methods of art making. She uses film in much of her photography work. Her life & creative work is inspired most by organic, natural shapes & landscapes-creating a connection with nature. Much of her recent photography work features food. Her love of food comes from her culinary trained husband whom she met while living in New York. She has worked on projects documenting their daily dinners and garden projects. As well as documenting a series of monthly wine dinners that they host together. She dreams of making a cookbook someday.

Sarah currently lives & creates in Portland, Oregon. Her work has been exhibited internationally, notably at the Revela-T Festival in Spain, and at many local galleries in the Pacific Northwest including the Buckley Center Gallery, Gallery 114, Lightbox Gallery & the Blue Sky Gallery.
